Hire a Live-in Caregiver with DJP Quebec Immigration Services

The live-in caregiver program went through important changes in November of 2014. For the moment, the program is managed mainly by the federal government. For now, the program is administered by the federal and Quebec keeps in line with the federal program while keeping its old prerogatives.

The caregiver program is now split in two:

  1. Caregivers for children under 18 years of age. This category could include positions such as:
    • Home child care providers, often called nannies – lower-skilled (National Occupational Classification (NOC) code 6474 – Baby Nannies, and Parents helpers
  2. Caregivers for people with high medical needs: Elderly persons, 65 years of age or over; or people with disabilities, a chronic or terminal illness. This category could include positions such as:

Employers

You are an employer looking to hire a foreign worker as a nanny for your children or you are looking for home care services from a live-in caregiver for your disabled or old age parents who wish to stay at home? Take advantage of our services. We have a data bank of applicants willing to apply for your job offer. You can access cadidate resume, pictures and introducing letter upon request. All this can be done by internet from the comfort of your home.

After making your choice among our candidates, we begin processing the application for an impact on the labor market evaluation right away. This report, issued by Service Canada, aims to verify that:

  1. A lot of effort was done to hire locally without success;
  2. Your income is largely sufficient to cover your employee's salary;
  3. You will provide your new employee with decent lodging and food if pertinent.

Another important change: it is no longer mandatory to supply lodging to your caregiver. This has to be decided upon contract signature. Note that the working contract that we use is the one supplied by le Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion du Québec.
